Fifty-Three Car Field For Australian AMCA Championship
Author : Archerfield Speedway
Fifty-three drivers representing nearly every State in the country will converge on Brisbane this weekend for the 2013 Australian AMCA Nationals Championship which is set to be run over two big nights of racing at Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway on Saturday and Sunday evenings.
While Qld drivers make up a good portion of the field, there's a very healthy representation of drivers from New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and the Northern Territory as well, all of who will be chasing the coveted number one to make this Australia Day weekend even more special.
Shane McKinnell won the Title when the event was last held in Brisbane in 2009 and McKinnell is again amongst the entries for the 2013 edition of the race. A number of Qld drivers will consider their chances are pretty good with a home track advantage including Nathan Durston who has already claimed three Feature race wins at Archerfield this season, Dean Ballard, Steve Potts, Matt Hardy, Russ Hardy and Jason Dreaver to name just a few.
Nick Stubbs, fresh from his win in the NSW Title last weekend and Jamie Collins from Victoria who also has multiple wins for the season including the Tasmanian Title, are the amongst the interstate drivers expected to contend for the win in Sunday night's Final.
The format for the Championship calls for three rounds of qualifying Heat races on Saturday night followed by a final round of Heats, the C and B Mains and the twenty car, thirty lap Championship Feature on Sunday night.
Both night's programmes at Archerfield this weekend include the Australian Midget Championship and support class racing with Sunday night's show also featuring a Caravan, Boat And Dunny Race and a special Australia Day Fireworks spectacular.
