Outstanding Field For Capalaba Wreckers Sprintcar Cup
Author : Archerfield Speedway
The racing just keeps on coming at Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway during the Summer Of Speed with the Capalaba Wreckers Sprintcar Cup the next event at the venue on Tuesday night January 8 and what a line-up of international, interstate and Qld based drivers the $10,000 to win show has drawn to Brisbane!
Forty-six drivers have sent their nominations in to date, an outstanding list that includes no less than seven Americans, the absolute cream of Australian drivers from south of the border and of course all the hot-shoes from north of the Tweed River. The list is a fitting one given the status the Capalaba Wreckers Sprintcar Cup has earned in just a few short years as a high profile event on the Australian Sprintcar calendar and with $10K up for grabs to the winner, the action will be thick and fast on the tight 1/4 mile raceway.
Fresh from his win in the Australian Sprintcar Open on the weekend, James McFadden will again be a young man to watch on Tuesday night but with the depth in this field it's hard to pick out half a dozen favourites let alone just one. Add to the field who contested the Open names like Brazier, Farrell, Sides, Green and the Madsen brothers to name just a few and the Capalaba Wreckers Sprintcar Cup sets itself up as the perfect showdown ahead of the Australian Sprintcar Championship at the venue this weekend.
For Donny Schatz, the Cup represents an opportunity to close out his Summer in Brisbane with a win in front of his legion of Qld fans. The five time World Of Outlaws Champion, who won the January 1 Sprintcar International / KRE Race Engines Sprintcar Track Championship Feature, has finished second in two of his last three starts at Archerfield and also finished second to Robbie Farr in this event last year. Victory will be high on the American's agenda.
Tuesday night's programme includes Fireworks and Midget Car racing and online ticketing is available through the Speedway's website at brisbanespeedway.com.au . General admission gates open at 3:45PM, early racing from 5.00PM, main programme from 6.00PM.
