Schatz And Britten Win New Year Features

Donny Schatz and Peter Britten captured two very important Feature race victories during the running of the Ausdeck Patios And Roofing New Year Extravaganza at Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway on New Year's Night, Schatz picking up the first victory of his current tour to Australia and Britten collecting an emotional win in the race held in honour of his late father.
Schatz led home Kevin Titman and Bryan Mann in the KRE Race Engines Sprintcar Track Championship Feature, the World of Outlaws Champion showing all his class to come from deep in the field after earlier winning the Dash and electing to accept the Kratzmann Caravans Challenge to invert the top fourteen qualifiers. Schatz took until just past half race distance to work his way through the field and take over the front running from leader Titman as he and Mann battled for the lead and from that point the American was never headed on his way to the chequers.
Peter lack finished fourth ahead of KRE Championship contenders Andrew Scheuerle and Todd Wanless who continue to amass a similar amount of points to each other at each Round of the Series, the two ensuring the battle for the crown remains tightly contested heading into the second half of the season.
Three-time Australian V8 Dirt Modified Champion Peter Britten paid homage to his father Paul with victory in the event held in his honour with younger brother Kevin also doing an admirable job in bringing the second of the family team cars home in fifth spot. As President of the Dirt Modified Association, Paul Britten contributed immensely to the future direction of the class in Australia before his untimely passing last March and continues to be sorely missed by many in the sport.
Racing continues at Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway this Friday and Saturday nights January 4/5 with the $20,000 to win World Series Sprintcars Australian Sprintcar Open and the Australian Modlite Championship on the programme both nights.
