Fans Ready To Kick Off The New Year At The Speedway
Author : Archerfield Speedway

Fans heading to Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway tonight have a big show in front of them with a great line-up of cars and stars in the annual Ausdeck Patios And Roofing New Year Extravaganza featuring Sprintcars, V8 Dirt Modifieds, the Lil' Car Demo Derby and Fireworks for the kids as Qld's Home Of Speedway kicks off a new year of racing.

World Of Outlaws Champion Donny Schatz headlines a solid list of American and Qld drivers chasing victory in the third Sprintcar International for the Summer. Schatz, who finished fifth at Archerfield on Boxing Night and second three nights later, will be keen to get his 2013 campaign off to a winning start with victory in the KRE Race Engines Sprintcar Track Championship Feature especially with the World Series Sprintcars Australian Open scheduled for this coming weekend at the venue the next event listed on his tour dates. Schatz is a four-time winner of the Open and holds the fifty lap record at Archerfield after a memorable drive to a $20,000 pay day in the event back in 2009.

Reigning Australian V8 Dirt Modified Champion Mark Robinson and three-time National Champion Peter Britten are two of the very best in the country today and it's fitting the two will go head to head tonight in the Paul Britten Memorial event which is being held in honour of Peter's father who passed away last March. As President of the Dirt Modified Association, Paul Britten worked tirelessly for the betterment of the class Australia wide and there's no question Peter along with younger brother Kevin would dearly love to win the event for their family.

Open to all front wheel drive, four cylinder vehicles with a maximum two litre engines capacity only, the Lil' Demo Derby is the first of its kind to be held in Qld and will close out tonight's special New Year's Day event at the Speedway with "Brisbane's Worst Driver" picking up a handy $1500.00 as the winner. They may only be small cars but the mayhem will be on a large scale!

General admission gates open at 3.45PM this afternoon with early racing from 4.30PM and the main programme from 6.00PM following the Australian and USA national anthems. Online ticketing is available for this event (Visa and MasterCard accepted) through the Speedway website at brisbanespeedway.com.au.
