The Americans Will Be Chasing Redemption
Author : Archerfield Speedway
Donny Schatz and Jack Dover will both be chasing redemption on behalf of Uncle Sam when the second of the Sprintcar Internationals for the Summer hits the track on Saturday night at Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway, the two Americans failing to deliver the anticipated knock-out punch against Qld's best during the thirty-five lap Feature event at the raceway on Boxing Night which was won by Andrew Scheuerle.
With five World Of Outlaw Championships and six Knoxville Nationals crowns to his name, Schatz is widely regarded as the number one Sprintcar driver in the world today but appeared to be caught out by the track conditions on Thursday night following a significant amount of rain in the lead-up to the event. Local drivers will be wary of Schatz, who ultimately finished fifth in the Feature, and will be prepared for the Champ to show his irrefutable class and bounce back even stronger this weekend.
Dover on the other hand excelled in his debut in Brisbane and looked set to pull off a remarkable first up win, the Nebraska star leading the opening third of the Feature before retiring from the event just under half distance. Dover will be much better for the experience and will prove to be a formidable "team mate" to Schatz in their quest to beat local stars such as Scheuerle, Wanless, Muir, Jensen, Reidy and Mann on their home turf.
Not only is there national pride at stake on Saturday night, there's also the not so small matter of the KRE Race Engines Sprintcar Track Championship points chase which is quickly becoming a dog fight between Scheuerle, Wanless and Reidy as the trio trade podium finishes and top five results in their bids for a Championship crown this season.
Saturday night's event also includes the Polar Ice Midget Car Series, Fireworks, Double Decker Car races, Wingless Sprints and support class racing. General admission just $28.00 for Adults with Kids 5-10 years $10.00, gates open from 3:45PM, early racing from 4:30PM and main programme from 6:00PM.
