Madsen, Murcott Add Some Extra Spice To KRE 5
Author : Archerfield Speedway
The nominations of Ian Madsen and David Murcott will undoubtedly add some extra spice to Round Five of the KRE Race Engines Sprintcar Track Championship at Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway this Saturday night December 15, with the two renowned for their stand on the gas style of racing and up against a pretty stout field of thirty-six drivers all chasing KRE honours.
Madsen and Murcott have the runs on the board at Archerfield, with Madsen already posting a podium result at the venue this season when he ran second to Darren Jensen back in Round Three. Murcott too has posted Fast Times, won Dashes, Features and stood on the podium at Archerfield on a number of occasions during the past few years. However, both will need to tap into all that experience this weekend to come away with a victory.
Standing in their way are the likes of Andrew Scheuerle who is looking for a three-peat of wins in Qld and back to back KRE Round wins, the always fast and popular reigning World Series Sprintcars Champion James McFadden, defending KRE Champion Bryan Mann, Todd Wanless, David Muir, Peter Lack and Darren Jensen to name just a few.
And then there's Danny Reidy who has moved to second in KRE points following his podium result behind Scheuerle and Muir last Saturday night, has finished in the top five in the four Rounds to date and is primed to pick up the Feature race victory many would be thinking will happen sooner rather than later.
Saturday night's event at Archerfield, the final one before the annual Summer Of Speed kicks off on Boxing Night featuring World Of Outlaws Champion Donny Schatz, also includes the Polar Ice Qld Midget Car Series, Wingless Sprints, Compacts and support class racing.
Grant Draney heads the Polar Ice point score from Michael Kendall and Anthony Chaffey with Brendan Palmer and Mark George rounding out the top five spots. Draney, Kendall and Chaffey have all won at Archerfield this season with Kendall, like Scheuerle like in the Sprintcars, going for a three-peat of wins in Qld and back to back Midget victories at Archerfield.
Twenty-one year old American driver TJ Hartman, who hails from Puyallup in Washington State, will make his Australian debut on Saturday night driving the #59 Spike/Mopar Midget for former Qld Champion Sid Whittaker which has been campaigned so far this season by Scott Wilson.
