Kane Wins In Honour Of The Boss

Darren Kane ticked another box on his long and impressive Super Sedan racing career with victory in the inaugural Ian Boettcher 5000 event at Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway on Saturday night December 1, a race that would be dear to his heart as it was run in honour of not only his friend and car owner but also a man who has given him opportunities to further his career both on and off the race track.
Kane, who won a fourth consecutive NSW Championship last weekend, topped the qualifying points ahead of fellow former Australian Champion Steve Jordan and SA's Dave Gartner but had to settle for third behind the two of them on the opening lap of the Feature before moving past Gartner for second on lap three. Jordan led through to lap seventeen before Kane finally worked his way past to take over the point, a position he never relinquished through to the end of the forty lap event.
In other race results, Brody Fraser-McGee won the ASCF Junior Sedan Feature ahead of Jeffrey Muir and Maddie McGee while Scott Thomsen won the Wingless Sprints Feature from Jarvis Menzies and Brant Chandler. Nathan Pronger, Kristen Brown and Russel Scrougall filled the top three spots in the Formula 500's Feature with pre-race favourite and Qld Champion Charlie Brown posting a rare DNF.
