American Young Guns To Race In Brisbane
Author : Archerfield Speedway
Two of America's hottest Midget racing young guns in Alex Bright and Andrew Felker are en-route to Brisbane for this Saturday night's POWRi Super Series event at Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway and ready to take on Australia's finest in the opening Round of the 2012/13 Series Championship.
Both drivers will make their Australian racing debuts this weekend and both are coming off career-best years in the United States where they have certainly made the elder statesmen of the sport sit up and take notice of their achievements.
Twenty-one year old Bright, who hails from Collegeville Pennsylvania and sat second in points for the ARDC Championship following the weekend's event at Grandview Speedway in PA, will drive the #92 Spike/Hawk for the Ipswich-based Jack Berry Racing team. Bright was a standout during the 2012 Indiana Midget Week events where he first came to the attention of Jack Berry who was in the USA at the time and from there a deal was brokered for Bright to compete in a number of events in Australia this Summer.
Felker leaves for Brisbane this week having secured the 2012 POWRi Championship in the final event of the season at Belle Clair Speedway in Illinois earlier this month. The Carl Junction Missouri racer will compete in the opening two Rounds of the POWRi Super Series in Qld for the CJR Motorsport team headed by Colin, Jason and Rusty Bell with Jason competing alongside him in a second team car.
Heading the list of Australian drivers to take on the two Americans is defending Series Champion Mark Brown and former Australian Champion Nathan Smee from NSW, Polar Ice Series Champion Brendan Palmer and Sydney ace Troy Jenkins. New Zealand will be well represented by five-time NZ Champion Michael Kendall.
Racing on Saturday starts at 4:45PM with the main programme scheduled from 6:00PM following the Australian National Anthem and those of the visiting USA and NZ drivers.
