Fields Set For Season Finale

The nominations are in and the fields are set for what is shaping up to be a great night of racing at Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway with the 2011/12 season finale featuring plenty of open wheel action including the KRE Race Engines Track Championship Final, the Danny Davidson Memorial for Midget Cars and the Wingless Sprint Fifty Lapper.
With fourteen Rounds in the books and just the final Round remaining, the KRE Series has proven itself to be yet another successful chapter in the long and storied history of Qld Sprintcar racing and come Saturday night Bryan Mann should be adding his name to the list of past Champions on the Sprintcars Qld/MSAQ honour roll. A victory this weekend, while desirable, is not an absolute requirement for Mann as he has the luxury of just posting a good, solid night of racing to earn enough points to ensure his maiden Championship.
Twenty-six cars have nominated for Round 15 of the KRE Series, including Jason Kendrick (WA), Matt Young (NSW) and Domain Ramsey (Vic) who will travel to Brisbane to take on the Qld'ers, all of who will be chasing a victory of their own to close out the season.
The Danny Davidson Memorial for the Midgets has established itself as one of the premier races on the Qld Midget calendar in recent years and it too has attracted a good field of drivers for the 2012 edition of the event. On paper, it should be a race between the likes of Michael Kendall, Todd Wanless, Brock Dean and Jeremy Hassell but one only needs to look at the form of Anthony Chaffey in the recent Auto Upgrade Fifty Lapper at Archerfield where he led a crack field of Qld, interstate and international drivers for half the race to also add his name as a serious contender again this weekend.
Is there any better way for the Wingless Sprints to close out their season than with a Fifty Lap marathon of their own? Probably not according to the twenty one drivers who have entered for Saturday night's race. Reigning Qld Champion Daniel Moes will be looking to close out a career year in the Wingless cars by adding to his impressive tally of wins this season but will need to hold off the likes of NSW driver David Eggins plus Winged Sprintcar regulars David Muir, Paul Morris and Todd Wanless who have also filed their nominations for the Fifty Lapper and will race in multiple classes this week.
Patrons are reminded that with additional races on the programme this Saturday night, general admission gates will open at the earlier time of 2:30PM, early racing will be from 3:00PM and the Sprintcars and Midgets are scheduled to be on the track from 5:00PM, one hour earlier than their usual starting time.
A reminder also that the annual Swap Meet will be held in the grounds adjacent to the Speedway on Sunday morning from 9:00AM to 12:00 noon. Admission is just five dollars while a site fee of $25.00 will apply to all stall holders. Competitors and teams from all racing sections are invited to attend the Swap Meet, contact the Speedway office on 3277 7745 to reserve your stall.
