Field Of Stars For Auto Upgrade Midget Fifty Lapper

Midget fans will be very happy to see the list of nominations for this Saturday night's Auto Upgrade Fifty Lap event at Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway in Brisbane with one of the best fields of the season headed by Michael Pickens and Mark Brown set to tackle the 1/4 mile raceway in the annual endurance event at Qld's Home Of Speedway.
Two of the best Midget car drivers the Shaky Isles has ever produced in Pickens and Michael Kendall are set to renew their on-track rivalry this weekend when they fly the Kiwi flag against the Australians including arguably two of the best in Brown and Smee. Between them, Pickens and Kendall have won eight New Zealand Championships and numerous other major events through their careers and will leave no stone unturned as they go searching for a victory this weekend.
Both Brown and Nathan Smee have won the Qld edition of the Fifty Lap race in years past and Smee returns to Brisbane having captured the final Round of the Polar Ice Qld Midget Car Series at Archerfield just over a week ago. Smee is a former National Champion and holds the edge over Brown in that arena whereas Brown is a five time Super Series Champion and one of only two drivers to have won that crown, ironically the other being Pickens in 2011 before Brown edged out Matt Smith for this year's Title.
While the international and interstate stars have some substantial victories on their individual résumés, Qld too will be well represented by Polar Ice Series Champion Brendan Palmer who heads back to his hometown track after winning the Victorian State Title this past weekend, QSRA Club Championship point leader Brock Dean, Jeremy Hassell and Todd Wanless who reeled off a record ten Feature race victories in succession at Archerfield during the 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons.
Add to this list Adam Wallis and Jason Bell from NSW, Matt Greenwood, Michael Harders and former Qld Champs Mark George and Sid Whittaker and you have the makings of quite a formidable field for the Fifty Lap event which is the main event on Saturday night's programme.
Fans heading to Archerfield this week will also enjoy V8 Dirt Modified and Wingless Sprint action plus a host of support class racing. Gates open from 4:00PM, early racing from 4:45PM with the main programme scheduled for a 6:00PM start.
