Kane Tops Australian Super Sedan Championship Practise Times
Author : Archerfield Speedway

Darren Kane topped the speed charts in Thursday night's practise sessions at Archerfield Speedway for this weekend's 2012 Supercheap Auto Australian Super Sedan Championship, the two-time National Champion stopping the clocks nearly half a second faster than his closest rivals and in doing so was the only driver to dip under the fourteen second mark.

Thirty-nine of the forty-five nominated drivers for the Championship took the opportunity to turn some laps following the scrutineering of all cars during the day. Kane, second in last year's Championship behind Steve Jordan, has now made his intentions known earlier than most with the fastest lap of the night and remains as one of the favourites for the Title.

South Australia's Dave Gartner was second quick, marginally ahead of Qld's Steve Pearce with Brad Smith (Tas) and Michael Nicola (Vic) completing the top five fastest drivers on the night. Defending Champion Steve Jordan was seventh quick with Jarrod Harper from Tasmania tenth.

Competitors and teams have a lay day today to prepare their cars before the festivities continue tonight with the traditional Championship Dinner and Calcutta. Qualifying racing gets under way Saturday night from 6:00PM, the first of two big nights of racing this weekend at Archerfield, with the Championship Final to be held on Sunday night.
