Polar Ice Series; Final Events Coming Up

Only a handful of Midget races remain in season 2011/12 at Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway and with the Polar Ice Qld Midget Car Series on the line and a first time Champion due to be crowned at the end-of-season Presentation Dinner, points will be at a premium when the Midgets take to the track again this Saturday night April 14 at Qld's Home Of Speedway.
After Brendan Palmer's three consecutive Round wins between December and February catapulted him to the top of the standings, two of New Zealand's finest in Michael Pickens and Michael Kendall cruised into Brisbane during March to steal victories from the locals.
Although Pickens' trip to Archerfield was a once-off for this season, last start winner Kendall is expected to compete in additional races at the venue before the season ends and is listed among the nominations for this Saturday night's event to be presented by Action Metal Recyclers.
While the Polar Ice Series will be the primary focus of competitors this weekend and again on April 28, drivers and teams will also have their eye on the annual Auto Upgrade Midget Fifty Lapper event to be held at Archerfield on May 19, an event that is expected to also draw a number of interstate competitors.
Saturday night's programme includes AMCA Nationals, ASCF Junior Sedans, Sigmas and Open Sedans. General admission gates open from 4:30PM with early racing from 5:00PM. Parking is available at the track for just $3 and racing is completed by 10:30PM.
