National Champions On Show At Archerfield
Author : Archerfield Speedway
Between them they have won the Australian V8 Dirt Modified Championship an impressive five times, including the past four National Title events, and this Saturday night at Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway Mark Robinson and Peter Britten will take on a crack field and each other in the race for victory in the Crossley Racing Engines Dirt Modified Series.
Robinson is the reigning Australian Champion and is a two time winner of the Title having first won the Championship back in 2005 when it was held in Brisbane, while Britten won three consecutive crowns before Robinson broke that streak earlier this year. Ironically, both drivers have emerged victorious when the Championship has been held at Archerfield in years past so it's more than fair to say they know the fast way to the chequers at Qld's Home Of Speedway.
Just the three V8 Dirt Modified events have been completed at Archerfield this season and Saturday night's event marks the next to last opportunity race fans will have to see these drivers and cars in action before the 2011/12 season closes. Their final race will be May 19 with the Auto Upgrade Midget Fifty Lapper event also on the programme that night.
Series Feature wins have gone the way of Matt Pascoe, Luke Oldfield and Britten this season but only Britten's name is amongst this weekend's entries from that trio of drivers. However the field is still a stout one with the likes of David Clarke, Kevin Britten, Ray Klarich, Kelvin Hamilton and former NSW Champion Phil McNamara all nominating for Saturday night's races and capable of winning the Feature.
The Polar Ice Qld Midget Car Series, Compact Speedcars, Modlites, Ford v Holden Sedans and Outlaw Sedans are also on the March 31 programme which starts at 6:00pm following the completion of the early races and the National Anthem.
