Twin Twenty Lap Features To Determine K R E 12 Winner
Author : Archerfield Speedway

Thirty one drivers will vie for just eighteen spots and the chance to compete in not one but two Sprintcar Feature races at Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway this Saturday night, with the Twin Twenty format in play for Round 12 of the KRE Race Engines Sprintcar Track Championship and the extra points on offer could make or break the Series chances of a number of competitors.

The format calls for Time Trials off the infield, Heat races, a Dash and B-Main to determine the eighteen starters for the first Feature, lined up as usual by the Dash results and each driver's qualifying points. The winner of the first Feature will then draw a six, eight or ten marble for the second Feature invert and all teams will be given an opportunity to prepare for the second Feature back in the pits while the Lightning Sprints Feature takes place.

Any drivers unable to compete in the second Feature will be scored as per their finishing result in the first Feature and additional drivers from the B-Main will take their place at the rear of the field and score points accordingly. KRE points will be awarded for both Features and the overall winner will be the driver who accumulates the most points from both races, with the highest finisher awarded first place in the event of a tie.

The American Racer MC1 tyre rule is in place for this event and all drivers must use the same tyre for both Features. A bonus $1000 is on offer and will be paid out to the top three overall drivers by the Archerfield Speedway promotional team in the form of $500/$300/$200.

With KRE 12 effectively now a double points Round and only a handful of Series races remaining, it's make or break time not only for the top three in the points chase but also a number of drivers who are camped out in the top ten. The Car Owners Championship is also of high significance at this point with the KRE pool money distributed proportionally to the number of points a team earns throughout the season, an important consideration for many.

Saturday night's programme at Archerfield includes Lightning Sprints, ASCF Junior Sedans and a host of support class racing from Sedan classes. Early racing from 4:15pm, main programme from 6:00pm.
