Late News: Australian Midget Open At Archerfield Tonight
Author : Archerfield Speedway
With the inclement weather which has been surrounding the Fraser Coast region in Qld the past few days forcing the cancellation of this weekend's scheduled Australian Speedcar Championship in Maryborough, Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway will now host the inaugural Australian Midget Open tonight in Brisbane.
Archerfield Promoter John Kelly has been in contact with leading drivers from around the country this morning and brokered a deal for the Midgets to compete at Qld's Home Of Speedway this evening in this special event.
"It's unfortunate that the weather has played a huge part in what is undoubtedly one of the biggest events on their calendar and I know a lot of drivers and teams have travelled great distances to compete in Qld this weekend, so we figured why not give them somewhere to race?"
With the news of the new event spreading quickly through the pit area in Maryborough, many teams have now loaded up and are on their way to Brisbane where the weather is very favourable for tonight's event at Archerfield.
The addition of the Midgets to the programme will bring forward the starting time for tonight's racing, with early racing now scheduled to start at 4:30pm and the main programme set for a 6:00pm start following the National Anthem.
