Palmer, Moes Are Repeat Winners At Archerfield

Brendan Palmer won the Polar Ice Midget Car Series Feature and Daniel Moes the Moonbi Oil Traders Wingless Sprints Series Feature at Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway on Saturday night February 18, the two repeating their respective victories in the previous Rounds of each Series at the venue this season. It was Palmer's third win in succession at Archerfield and the consequent points haul increases his lead in the Championship standings.
Palmer led all twenty-five laps to hold off Dash winner Grant Draney by just over half a second at the chequers with Steve Swingler edging out Darren Vine by a similar margin for the final podium spot. Michael Harders, a November winner in Brisbane during the Midget 20/20 event, finished fifth ahead of Sid Whittaker, Anthony Chaffey, Jeremy Hassell, Rodney Harders and John McLaughlin.
Brock Dean, the QSRA Club Championship point leader heading into the event, set the quickest time during group qualifying with a respectable 13.840s lap but failed to complete the Feature race distance as did Troy Ware, Chris Singleton and Trent Usher.
Moes had to battle his way past both Brant Chandler and early leader Kenneth Crompton on his run to the front in the Wingless Sprints Feature, taking over the point at the half way mark of the race and going on to take the win ahead of Chandler, Crompton, Series leader Wayne Lemon and Luke Tinson. Sarah Angel was sixth, Steve Brewer seventh and Donna Barrett eighth at the flag.
In the Lightning Sprints races, Steven Seefeld won the twenty lap Feature with Wayne Iacono and Scott Genrich filling the minors while Chris Ruane led home Brittney Grose and Scott Lehfeldt in the Modlites main event.
Racing continues at Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway next Saturday night February 25 with Round 11 of the KRE Race Engines Sprintcar Track Championship on the programme and featuring Twin Twenty Lap Features.
