Archerfield Speedway (also known as Brisbane International Speedway) is Queensland’s premier dirt track venue.  It’s gates have been open since 1 July 1979 and has been well-patronised since then.  The venue has played host to many National Championships as well as World Monster Truck Finals.  Archerfield is a privately owned and operated track and the current management have promoted the venue since July 2000.

The venue stages approximately 35 speedway events per season commencing in September and culminating in June each year.  Of this approximately 20 events include Australia’s leading division – the 850hp V8 Sprintcars.

The annual calendar usually includes World Series Sprintcar events as well the Australian Sprintcar Opening paying $20,000 to win, attracting the best international and interstate drivers.

Each race event is unique.  Monster Trucks, stunts and Fireworks are all part of the entertainment adding to the speedway affair.  And whether it is Sprintcars, Super Sedans – a club event or international meeting, the attraction remains.

The floodlit track sets the scene for action and plenty of it.  Fans scramble to stake claim on their usual vantage points.  Fine-tuned machines spill out onto the track for the warm-up laps.  The crowd and drivers alike are prepared for the battle.  The atmosphere is heavy with anticipation.  The roar of 850hp V8s let loose….

A special bond exists among speedway fans.  They know the thrill of a hard-fought battle, to close their eyes and feel the earth shake, to hear the engines groan and to smell the methanol.  To wait, and watch, to savour the unpredictability of each moment.  This is the addiction.  Speedway!  The ultimate spectacle, it’s about excitement and high speed action.

Thousands of fans yelling unrestrained…

Speedway is more than entertainment

Speedway is a passion!
